Show Don't Mow- Lawn Grass Too Short Here's news the man-of-the-house has been waiting for: It's better for a lawn not to mow the grass too short. Grass depends on its blades for food and if it's cut closely, it might starve. The proper height for most lawn grasses is one and one-half inches, according accord-ing to agricultural specialists, who recommend setting lawn mower blades at that height. It's best, too, not to rake up cut grass, and a grass catcher shouldn't be used. Let clippings -fall back on the lawn to decay and furnish food for the grass roots. Extra-long clippings do have to be gathered and carried away, however. If they're not they'll smother the living grass |
