The fact that she gets so much done comes from s budgeting tune and scheduling the day's program, but her good pies and cakes as well as the many other good things she makes, comes from experience and a knack for good cooking. In addition to making from two to a dozen pies and several cakes each day for the Art Bowling, she attends to activities involved in her membership in the Aureole club, Jaycee Wives, Ladies Bowling Bowl-ing League, Firemen's Auxiliary and the Civic Orchestra. For relaxation, re-laxation, she practices on the violin vio-lin one hour each day and assists her children with their daily practices. pra-ctices. She takes a music lesson each week and prepares a Mutual lesson during her spare time. Many of her evenings or afternoons are spent at programs for various occasions. And with it all she finds time to prepare some very delicious delic-ious dishes. One of her favorite recipes re-cipes is for Cream Coconut Pie, which she makes as follows: PIE CRUST: 2 cups flour 1 cup shortening 1 level .teaspoonful salt Mix flour, salt and shortening using tips of fingere. Handle lightly light-ly adding enough cold water . to make a soft dough. Roll out and line inside of pie tins fastening well over edges of tins. Bake in hot oven. FILLING 4 cups milk 1 cup sugar 4 rounding teaspoons corn starch y2 teaspoonful salt 4 eggs (separated) 1 teaspoonful vanilla cup grated coconut. Scald milk in an aluminum pan and stir in corn starch, sugar and salt. Mix thoroughly and boil, later adding egg yolks while stirring constantly. Add vanilla and coconut. coco-nut. Pour into pie shell. When cool, cover with well 'beaten egg white to which has been added y2 cur) sugar. Sprinkle with coconut and brown slowly in oven. |
