Show CITY OBSERVES 98TH BIRTHDAY Springville this week launches out on her 99th year while looking look-ing forward to the centennial anniversary an-niversary of her founding. 1 The city's 98th birthday was observed in appropriate style Saturday with various civic organizations cooperating cooper-ating with the city to furnish the day's entertainment. Special guests at the birthday were mayors from several neighbor neigh-bor cities, who as guests of Springville's mayor Sterling Price, viewed the new water project in Bartholomews. Mayor Price also spoke briefly at the D. U. P. sponsored spon-sored program at Kelly's Grove in the early afternoon and later members mem-bers of the mayors party were honor hon-or guests at the horse races. After the program at the Grove, a large number of townspeople took advantage of the free bus service to view the water project. The birthday celebration was highlighted by the horse racing programs of Saturday as well as Thursday and Friday, with a record re-cord crowd attending the final exhibition on Saturday at the track at Spring Acres. |
