Show action of the marketing of their commodities, according ' to the State Department of Agriculture. STATE WARNS ON UNLICENSED PRODUCE BUYERS It is recognized that the producer pro-ducer of farm products is subject to unusual hazards and losses in his dealings with certain persons who seek to obtain from the producer pro-ducer his products for resale upon a speculative basis. And it is further fur-ther recognized that it is in the public interest that such hazards and losses shall be minimized as much as possible, in order that the consumer of these commodities may depend upon a constant and adequate supply to the best interests inter-ests of all concerned. According to Commissioner R. Harvey Dastrup, State Department Depart-ment of Agriculture, thousands of dollars are lost annually to producers pro-ducers in bad checks, toad accounts, and other forms of transactions entered into by dealers who were not licensed under the Produce Dealers' Act of the State of Utah , to purchase agricultural commod- Cities within the State boundaries. In order to assist the producer in the marketing of his commodities, commod-ities, we have furnished complete lists of all produce dealers, commission com-mission merchants, brokers and processors in the State of Utah to all County Agricultural Agents, District Agricultural Inspectors, ! Farm Bureau Presidents, and co- operative groups who are interest-j interest-j ed in advising their members with such information. We have also, at the request of the tftah Turkey Growers' Federation, made these lists available to every turkey processing plant within the State I which list will be published and i posted in a conspicuous place in j the plant where those interested may avail themselves of the knowledge know-ledge necessary to guide them in their agricultural marketings. The Produce Dealers' Act can only toe of service if we have the cooperation of the producer in making its provisions effective. ! We again strongly urge every I producer of agricultural commo- dities in this State to make available avail-able to themselves the information informat-ion contained in these lists in order ord-er that they may toe more nearly protected in the regular trans- |
