Show Armed Forces Fred Childs, son of Mrs. Belle Childs of this city, has completed his training at Maxwell Field, Ala. and has been transferred to Arcadia, Arca-dia, Fla., according to word received re-ceived here. Returns After 12-Day Leave Joseph Plumlee, son of Mrs. Georgia Plumlee of Mapleton, has returned to his station at Pensaco-la, Pensaco-la, Fla., after spending a tweh-day tweh-day leave with his mother and other oth-er relatives and friends at Maple-ton. SPAR Gets Part In Coast Guard Revue Mrs. Melba Martindale, SPAR, of this city, is a member of a large cast of the Coast Guard Musical Revue, "Tars and SPARs" currently cur-rently on tour through eastern states and set to open in New Tork City on May 5th, according to word received here. The show is a gigantic recruiting stunt for the Coast Guard Women's Reserve and had its preview in Palm Beach, Fla., and is scheduled for a long trek across country. Local Marine Gets Purple Heart Pfc. Marcus Johnson expressed his thanks and appreciation for the Springville Herald recently, stating that he gets his paper regularly reg-ularly since being stationed in the Hawaiian Islands. He recently received his promotion promo-tion to Pfc. in the Marines and was also the recipient of the Purple Pur-ple Heart in recognition of wounds received in the Battle of Tarwara. I haven't received the paper regularly, reg-ularly, due to my constant moving. mov-ing. The issues, when I receive them,, are read with interest and during that time I am once again there and in the places that hold my interest and memory of those I have known and worked with. Especially, do I enjoy the letters written by Lt. Grant Nielsen arid many others. I wish I could express ex-press myself and my work as he has done. My work here is confidential confi-dential and regulations prevent my telling you much about it. I, too, have been through similar circumstances circum-stances as Lt. Nielsen and perhaps can appreciate his letters more than most of you at home. ' I am glad to see in "bur" paper where Springville and Mapleton are going over the top in everything every-thing they do to back the war effort. ef-fort.
