Show Mrs. Eliza Mendenhall Observes 85th birthday Mrs. Eliza Mendenhall, . pioneer of Mapleton, celebrated her 85th birthday on Monday. She is making mak-ing her home at present with a daughter, Mrs. Marian Tuckett, at Lake Shore. She was born in Springville in the old fort row and spent her early life in this city. In her early married life she lived at Bear Lake, Ida., where she took an active ac-tive part in the civic and social development of that country. She later lived for a time in Cache county, but has spent most of her life in Mapleton. She spends her leisure time now i at sewing, crocheting, and piecing quilts. Her children are: Mrs. Marian Tuckett, Lake Shore; Mrs. A. F. Berry, Rexburg, Ida.; J. W. Mendenhall, Men-denhall, Cedar City; T. L. Mendenhall, Men-denhall, Raymond, Alberta, Can.; Joseph Mendenhall, Huntington; Byron Mendenhall, Payson; Aaron Mendenhall, Mapleton; Harvey Mendenhall, Provo, and Barney Mendenhall, Salt Lake City. Sylvia Caldwell of Centerfield visited the past week with Mr. and Mrs. I. S. Brown in this city. FIRST WARD GLEANERS WERE ENTERTAINED at a party Tuesday evening after Mutual at the home of Theo Childs, with Carol Cherrington assisting. as-sisting. Plans for the Gleaners Girls' sheaf -binding exercises were discussed dis-cussed and in conclusion tasty refreshments re-freshments were served to about 20 class members. Mrs. Vera Watts, class leader, was in charge of the social. OLD FRIENDS CLUB WAS ENTERTAINED on Friday evening at the home of Mrs. Odessa Child. A delicious luncheon was served early and was followed by cards. Prizes went to Mrs. Leola Ewing, Mrs. Thelma Clark, and Mrs. Guy Mendenhall, the latter being a guest. Other guests included Mrs. Lucy Childs and Mrs. LaVern Beardall. MR. AND MRS. HARRY EWING GAVE A PARTY at their' home on Saturday evening. eve-ning. Card games were featured and during the games Mr. and Mrs. Norman Tipton and Mr. and Mrs. Reed Clements won prizes. A nicely arranged luncheon was served to Mr. and Mrs. Norman Tipton, Mr. and Mrs. Reed Clements, Clem-ents, and Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Robertson. JEUNE MERE CLUB MEMBERS WERE GUESTS of Mrs. Naomi Thorn at her home on Wednesday. The group enjoyed a review of the book, "Random Harvest," given in an interesting manner by Mrs. Maurine Haymond. Hay-mond. A delicious luncheon was served serv-ed early in the evening to ten club members and one guest, Mrs. Fay Lundquist. EVERYONE ENJOYED THE FOURTH WARD CHOIR PARTY Monday evening following regular regu-lar practice at the chapel. The group assembled in the scout rooms where a sumptuous weiner bake was held. The group takes turn-about for their regular parties, and it was the sopranos in charge Monday night. Approximately 50 choir members joined in the fun. MRS. MARVA TAYLOR WAS HOSTESS to members of the Versatility club at her home Thursday evening. A delicious Easter lunch was served early and the members also enjoyed en-joyed sewing. Present were Eloise and Evelyn Bird, Elzina Laney, Eulalia Livingston, Liv-ingston, Harriet Strong, Helen Rowland, Mae Miller, Geraldine Atkinson, Ferl Bown, and Harriet Har-riet Burt. |
