Again Miss Dunne makes a sacrifice, this time sending her son off to combat against the Nazis. But this is not all. She gives unselfishly of her time, spending days and night on Red Cross duty in a British hospital. Her son is brought to the hospital hos-pital mortally wounded, and with her at his side he breathes his last. Miss Dune's performance is by far the greatest in her cinematic career. She gives the 'warmth and color to a role that requires the utmost perfection. Supporting her are Alan Marshal, who also gives a sterling account of himself him-self as her lover and husband; Frank Morgan, as her father; Roddy McDowall, as her son in youth, and Peter Lawford, her son grown up. Also, there are such fine actors and actreses as C. Aubrey Smith, Dame May Whitty, Gladys Cooper and Elizabeth Eliz-abeth Taylor. |
