Show WORD COMES OF LOCAL MEN BEING WOUNDED Other Natives Of This City Have Been Reported Blissing In Action Two Springville army men and a Mapleton Navy man are this week reported wounded in action on various war fronts, while two former Springville boys are reported re-ported missing and another, husband hus-band of a local girl, is also missing miss-ing in action. Corp. Keith "Bud" Kennedy, son of Mrs. G. D. Kennedy, was wounded Nov. 14, in France, said word received from the war department de-partment Saturday evening. Cpl. Kennedy landed in England Eng-land on April 8, and has been m cattle m trance since August. Aug-ust. He was with an observation division of the infantry. -S. 2-C Alton Nielson, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Nielson of Mapleton was wounded in the south Pacific on Oct. 24, and is now stationed in a hospital in the Hawaiian Islands. His wounds consist of a dislocated hip and burns. Staff Sgt. Karl C. Smith, husband hus-band of Norma Gene Dunn Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clive Smith of Santaquin, is missing in action ac-tion over Yugoslavia since Nov. 17, according to word received by his wife, residing here. It is the second time Staff Sgt. Smith has been reported missr ing in 60 days. TJie first time, his wife received a letter from him stating that he had bailed out of a plane and was safe, shortly before she received a telegram tele-gram telling of his missing, from the War Department. His wife and baby reside in Springville. Word was received Monday that Pfc. Ted Ostler, son of Mrs. Margaret Ostler of this city has been wounded in action on the French war front. His wife, the former Gloria Roach resides In Spanish Fork. Pfc. Ostler went to Europe the latter part of August and was stationed with the infantry. He has been awarded the purple heart. S 2-C Nielson has been in the navy two years last November, and participated in the invasion of Sicily. Lt. Delbert Creed Brimhall, son of Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Brimhall of Provo, formerly of Springville is reported missing in action over Germany since Nov. 16. A B-29 pilot, he was recently awarded award-ed the air medal in Italy. He has been overseas since August 12. His wife the former Elinor Brockbank, resides in Provo. Technical Sgt. Earl Sutherland, son of Mrs. Laura Sutherland of Provo, formerly of Springville, is reported missing in action in France. He lived in Springville until 13 years ago. He has been in the army four years, and overseas over-seas since September. |
