Show CITY CONSIDERS CENTRAL HEAT Escanaba, Mich., may become the second city in the nation to heat all its homes, stores, schools and churches from one central heating plant, says the International Inter-national City Managers' Association. Associa-tion. In 1937 Escanaba constructed a small central heating plant to serve a limited number of customers cus-tomers in the downtown area and interest thus aroused has led the city council to ask for a survey in regard to the possible expansion expan-sion of the system to include the entire community. Early this year Virginia, Minn., became the first city to go on complete central heating, using a municipality-owned heating plant operated on a non-profit basis. |
