Show TIRES Retreading and recapping of tires has been adopted by the army, which estimates that it will save fifty per cent of rubber used in vehicle tires. Tests show that a tire recap lasts about 80 per cent of the normal service of the original ori-ginal tread and reconditioning costs about 40 per cent -of the price of a new tire. o Forty miles of continuous cotton cot-ton cord, hand-tied with more than 181,000 knots, were required to manufacture a gigantic net used by one American company working work-ing on defense. The huge net will be used to hold "blimp envelopes," or gas bags, during their original inflation preparatory to flying. |
