Show ART CITY GIRLS LEAVE FOR NATIONAL MEET With the state girls' Softball title all tucked away, the Art City girl's softball team left for Detroit De-troit Tuesday morning, seeking nation na-tion al honors. The team will play several exhibition games en route to the meet, playing in Chicago four days. v . The national tournament for both men and women will begin September 10. The tourney is a single elimination meet with the outstanding teams throughout the entire nation competing for honors. hon-ors. The local girls' - team will be strengthened by the addition of Pat Baxter, ace hurler on the Cop-perette Cop-perette club, who went to the meet with the Springville team. Other team members who made the trip are: Beverly Twelves, Ruth Robertson, Ro-bertson, Marie Robinson, June Clayson, Spud Hinckley, Norma Gustin, Elva Barnett, Thora Johnson, John-son, Betty Harwood, Joyce Hanks, Erma Patrick, Emma Ullock, Len-ore Len-ore Weight, and Shirley Peterson, mascot. Coach Art Hughes and Mrs. Hughes, Manager A. G. Peterson Pe-terson and Mrs. Peterson, and Ruth Condie accompanied the girls. The team will be gone two weeks. |
