Show Schools Open Here on September 8; High School Registration on Friday a Six New Teachers Will Complete Staff For Ensuing: Year At Local Junior and Senior High Schools With the tang of fall in the air, and last-minute preparations for the beginning of school being made, the opening of Springville schools on Monday is un- $doubtedly one of the major events of the week. W. W. Brockbank, high school principal, announces that actually Springville high school students must begin on Friday by registering register-ing and paying their fees. Students of the ninth grade will register Saturday. Lockers may be obtained by paying registration fees. Mr. Brockbanuk states that absolutely no entrance to classes will be allowed al-lowed until fees are paid. Actual class work in all of the city schools will begin at 9 a. m. Monday morning, with an opening assembly in the high school auditorium audi-torium beginning high school work. New teachers in the high school and junior high this year are Reece Anderson, Hazel Spencer, Art Gilbert, Lamar Hendrickson, Russell Stansfield, and Mr. DeHart. Mr. Anderson comes from Mt. Pleasant and will replace Jack Cherrington as science teacher. I Hazel Spencer comes from Malad, Idaho, and will be the foods teacher teach-er in place of Merlene Tew. Coaching the football team and teaching education and health in place of Ned McBeth will be Art Gilbert of Salt Lake City, a former for-mer outstanding B. Y. U. football star. Lamar Hendrickson of Payson will teach junior high school classes in mathematics and English, Eng-lish, and Russell Stansfield will teach type in place of Edward Christensen. In the seminary, Mr. DeHart of Salt Lake City will teach the classes taught last year by Joseph Olsen. |
