Show May production for the Army fell considerably below schedule, according to Robert C. Patterson, Under-Secretary of War. Production Produc-tion of materials for the ground forces was scheduled to reach $1,582,000,000 but actually declined declin-ed from April figures and amounted amount-ed to only $1,494,000,000. Aircraft production, which had reached 7,200 planes in May, is encouraging and WPB spokesmen point out that the reduction referred re-ferred to by Mr. Patterson relates to materials for the ground forces and that production as a whole for May is estimated to have been two per cent greater than for April. |
