Show JAYCEES SEND ' HERALD TO 175 SERVICEMEN Funds Secured By Jayceos For Subscriptions Exhausted ; Boys Express Appreciation The Springville Junior Chamber of Commerce has to date sent the home town paper to 175 boys in the Armed Forces, and in response has received numerous notes and other expressions of appreciation. The funds set up by the Jaycee organization have now been exhausted ex-hausted and unless some other project is launched or some other organization takes up the project, it will be impossible to send the Herald to other men. The Junior Chamber asked some weeks ago that parents or friends, desiring to have the paper sent to a man in the Armed Forces, leave the address at the Herald office. To date, 175 names and addresses have been received and it is believed that most of the boys are receiving the paper. Each was credited for a year's subscription. subscrip-tion. Reports have come from as far as Australia and New Guinea that the boys have received the paper, and all of them have expressed appreciation for it. As there are more than 400 of our boys from Springville in the Armed Forces, there are quite a number not receiving the paper, and many of these are boys who have left their homes during the past few weeks and are not yet permanently located. In addition to the Springville boys now receiving the paper, there are nearly forty boys from Mapleton who received a year's subscription as a Christmas gift from the city. The Herald appreciates getting news from all the boys. It is one-means one-means by which they may keep in touch with their friends and , acquaintances while they are away . from home. |
