Show Wedding T)ate Observed By Local Couple Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Johnson on Wednesday had been married for 62 years. They observed their wedding date quietly at their home on Third East, Fourth South street. Both have been residents of Springville most of- their lives. They resided for a few years in Mapleton and also for a short time in Provo. Mr. Johnson will be 88 years old on October 4th. During his earlier ear-lier life, he took an active part in civic affairs. For a number of years he was justice of the peace in Springville and in Mapleton. With his brother, Don, he was interested in, early-day theater management, having operated one of the first theaters here. He was also manager of two of the early-day early-day hotels in Provo. Mrs. Johnson, who on March 21 of this year, celebrated her 81st birthday, is especially active for one of her years, and takes a keen interest in the events of the day. Mr. Johnson was a son of Aaron Johnson, who led the first colony of pioneers to Springville and later lat-er became the town's first bishop. Mrs. Johnson is also a daughter of some of the earliest settlers, Euriah and Sarah Mendenhall Curtis. Cur-tis. The couple was married in the Endowment House, June 30, 1881. They have two sons and a daughter, daugh-ter, Howard and Heber Johnson of Seattle, Wash., and Euphemia Johnson, Los Angeles, Calif. |
