Show University Class Takes to the Air Modern schooling takes to the air this week with a series of flying fly-ing classrooms being offered by the "Cloud College" of the University Uni-versity of Utah's department of geology. The students take off from the Salt Lake Municipal airport via a 40-passengcr . Western Air Lines plane for an hour and one half flight over points of geologic and scenic Interest. Several geology in-$ 'structors accompany each plane to provide flying lectures. There are two flights on Wednesday, Wed-nesday, Thursday and Friday. All pass over the Wasatch Mountain front, across south edge of Great Salt Lake, over Bingham Copper Mine and Utah Lake, up American Fork canyon past Mt. Timpanogas, over the high lakes and rugged peaks of the Uinta Mountains, along the Weber Riber basin past East Canyon Reservoir and down the original Mormon Pioneer trail back to Salt Lake vallev. The nationally famous "Cloud College" program, which began in 1939, is open to the general public in addition to University of Utah students. |
