Show Auto Assn. Points To Danger Hours In Traffic Four out .of five pedestrians in traffic accidents last year lost their lives between 5,00 P. M. and 1:00 a.m. Lynn Child, District Rep. of the Utah State Auto Assn. states in urging persons walking on streets and highways during dusk and darkness to wear or carry something white. Many .of these deaths could possibly have been averted, if this simple rule had been followed, he said. "Wear White After Dark" is -the rule to be taught children here this month "Under the poorest conditions of road lighting, a pedestrian in all dark clothing can barely be . seen by a driver as close as 90 feet or four car lenghts," Mr. Child said. "When one realizes that a car traveling 30 miles an hour cannot can-not be stopped within 90 feet, the cause of many pedestrian fatalities fatal-ities in darkness can easily be understood. |
