Show Strong Family Returns From Vinter Vacation A mid-winter vacation on the sunny shores of the Caribbean Islands Is-lands and the Bahamas has been the happy experience of President Ernest A. Strong of Kolob LDS stake and his wife and their four children and their husbands and wives. The group comprising the entire adult family of President and Mrs. Strong including Bert and Harriet Strong, Carl and Lucille Lu-cille Peterson, Grant and Jane Richins and John and Anna Lee Strong, returned Monday from the three-weeks trip. They traveled to Miami, Fla., m two cars and at this point joined the Resort House party tours for a trip to the islands. They spent a day and a night in Cuba and from there went by plane to the millionaire-resort beach of Vera Dero. From this point, they flew to the English governed city of Nassau in the Bahamas; from there to Haite and then to Jamica before returning back to Miami. The many colored people, the Creole language and native customs cus-toms in Haiti, whei'e they also witnessed wit-nessed the famous cock fights, the tropical fruit and sugar cane plantations, plan-tations, the primitive mode of travel and communication found in some parts of the islands, the tiny plots of ground on which the natives eked out on existence, the vegetation and the warm climate, and religious demonstrations, all proved interesting and enjoyable to the travelers. Especially noticeable were the loud noises made by the horns of the automobiles on the islands. In Cuba, they said, it seemed the driver with the loudest horn, the best brakes and the most nerve made his way through traffic. Bicycles Bi-cycles were ridden by many people. They returned by way of the southern states, stopping to enjoy the scenery at the Cypress Gardens Gar-dens in Miami, the tourist attractions attrac-tions in New Orleans, Carlsbad Caverns and many other points of interest. The entire trip was most enjoyable enjoy-able for everyone. It was a gift to their family by President and Mrs. Strong. |
