Show Yjeivd YjoteS 2nd DIV., KOREA Army Pfc Melvin J. Sorenson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chris M. Sorenson, Route 1, Springville, Utah, was recently transferred to the 2nd Infantry division di-vision in Korea. Sorenson, who holds the combat infantryman badge, had been serving serv-ing as a rifleman with the 45th infantry in-fantry division which is being returned re-turned to the U. S. He will finish his tour of Korean duty with the 2nd division, now training to main-tian main-tian combat efficiency. A 1950 graduate of Springville high school, he was a farmer before be-fore entering the army in December Decem-ber 1952. Mrs. J. M. Dotson of Las Vegas, Nev., has returned following a visit in Springville with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Pyper and family. Mr. nad Mrs. Wallace Clegg and Mrs. Margaret Miner have had as their. guests their son and daughter Dr. and Mrs. Richard K. Miner (Helen Clegg) and four children of Portland, Ore., who came also to attend general conference, Dr. Miner being bishop of an LDS ,ward in Portland. Mrs. Margaret Miner accompanied them on the return trip. She had visited them at their home in Portland and had also spent some time with her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Johnson at Richfield, Ida. I I Mrs. Beulah Whiting with Mr. ' and Mrs. Verl Whiting of this city and Mrs. R. L. Springmeyer of Salt Lake City attended the wed- . ding of Beverly Lorraine Smith, : daughter of former high school coach and Mrs. Dazil Smith, and : Gayle Fred Miner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred ,A. Miner, which took place at the Yalecrest ward in Salt Lake City last Wednesday evening. I Mr. and Mrs. Walter Anderson left Tuesday by automobile to visit Indian families on the Hopi and Navajo reservations in northern Arizona, with whom they became . friendly while serving on an LDS j mission a short time ago. The An-; An-; dersons have kept in close touch with the Indian people in this locality lo-cality through letters and visits and on this trip down they are taking tak-ing a car-load of clothing and other items to thore families which have been out of work in recent months, j i Mr. and Mrs. Anderson will be I i gone about a week. |
