Marlene Oakley !f - " - t - ' ii .-.-, -i 1 I I V:. . fc ' i 4 i " i V- Carol Jean Straw Judging for Miss Springville Will Take Place Apr. 21; Eleven Entered ; With the registration of five more Miss Springville candidates, bringing the total to eleven beautiful beau-tiful entries, interest is reaching a high point in the selection of the girl to represent this city in the Miss Utah pageant. Judging will take place next Wednesday evening. April 21, at 8:15 p.m. in the Second-Eighth ward church to which the public is invited. All pageant entries will appear and present a sample of their talent furnishing and outstanding out-standing program. Judging will be by Margaret Potter of the BYU home economics department; Mr. Madsen, director if th BYU band and Colleen Collins Col-lins from radio. Bud Done, representing repre-senting the Jaycees, who are sponsoring spon-soring the pageant, will be master of ceremonies. Winner of the pageant will be given a $50 war bond and a trophy tro-phy and a portrait of herself, and her attendants will be chosen and presented with special gifts. All j other entries will receive gift certificates. cer-tificates. ' Crowning of Miss Springville will be by Mayor A. W. Cherrington. Adding their names to the list of entries this week are: Miss Ann Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gene Johnson, sponsored by the Federated Women's Clubs: Miss Elise Sanford, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mack Sanford of San Bernardino. Bern-ardino. Calif., and a granddaughter granddaugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. John Fox of Springville, sponsored by Hay-mond Hay-mond Drug; Marlene Oakley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Art Oakley, Oak-ley, sponsored by the Black Hawk committee; Joan Averett, daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Averett sponsored by the National Guard; Carol Jean Straw, daughter of Reed Straw, sponsored by th) Chamber of Commerce. Others entered at an earlier date are Glida Ann Packard, LaVern Johnson, June Thorn, Evelyn Ley-shon, Ley-shon, Merrie Metcalf and Sharon Clayson. |
