Show Brookside News... Harry Weight and Alfred Baker Mr. Wilson's fifth grade is conducting con-ducting an experiment to determine deter-mine the effect that vegetation has on erosion. We have a big box filled fill-ed with dirt and sloping both ways. In the dirt of one side we have planted grass seed, and the other is implanted. When we get the grass covering of one side we will spray the whole thing with water and catch the runoff from each side in a bottle. That way we can compare the runoff of water and the amount of mud carried away from the planted and unplanted sides. We are also making scrap books of the solar system. We are filling them with pictures, drawings, draw-ings, and discussions of the planets, the moon, the sun and the stars. Mr. Mason's fifth grade went to the BYU observatory for a trip, and now we are planning a trip to the fish hatchery. We will see the birds, animals, and fish there. Then we will eat our Easter lunch and come home. Mr. Fitts who is training in Miss Davis' room is directing the children in a stduy of the solar system. Miss Catherine Wills, and her training teacher, Miss Bennett, are preparing an Easter party for the children next Friday. The room is all decorated with bunnies, and other Easter symbols. The parents are to be invited to the party. Room mothers, Mrs. LeGrand Young and Mrs. Ralph Mucha will assist in the party. Mrs. Anderson's class of kindergarten kinder-garten went to the art building last week to see the pictures. This week they are having a party for their fathers and mothers. Thay are putting on an Easter play with costumes and decorations. A group under the direction of Karen Boyer are planning a party for the sixth grade this next Friday. Fri-day. Last week, Mrs. Cline taught us all day because Mr. Frandsen went to Spokane, Washington, for the week to attend the Inland Empire educational conference. |
