Show Round'ti-About Town . . . Pvt. Jay L. Weight, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Weight of this city has begun a thirteen week course of indoctrination training at Lackland Air Force Base, "The Gateway to the Air Force," San Antonio, Texas. In the basic training at Lackland Lack-land he will receive a well rounded military preparatory schooling for progress in a specialized Air Force career. During this initial course he will be given complete vocational vocation-al and aptitude testing along personal per-sonal guidance counseling to determine de-termine his entrance into a suitable suit-able technical training assignment assign-ment on leaving The Gateway Base. Besides constituting the only Air Force station for indoctrination training of all new airmen, Lackland Lack-land is a reassignment and training train-ing center for re-enlistees, home of USAF Officer Candidate school and the Human Resources Research Re-search Center. Melvin A. Clouser, of Springville has re-enlisted in the U. S. Army for a career service in the grade of Corporal and is now with Co. "B" 8th Inf. Rgt. of the Fighting Fourth Infantry Division at Fort Ord, California, pending further assignment. Cpl. Clouser is a veteran of eight years service with the Navy in Mare Island. He holds the Presidential Pres-idential Unit Citation, Aisiatic -Pacific, 3 Bronze Stars. A vocational school attendane in civilian life, Corporal Clouser hopes to make a -career of the medical department in the Army. William J. Clouser, father, lives at Duncansville, Pennsylvania. , Mrs. Flora McPherson has returned re-turned to her home here after spending the . winter with her daughter and son-in-law and family fam-ily in Ogden. Mr. and Mrs. Glen W. Coffman, Sr., had as their guests during the week-end, Dr. and Mrs. J. E. Christensen and sons Jerry and Henry of Logan. Dr. Christensen is dean of the school of engineering engineer-ing at the A. C. and their son, Glenn, Jr., is completing his first year at the school. The Christen-sens Christen-sens were down to place sons Jerry and Glenn, Jr., in the Reclamation Re-clamation Service at Spanish Fork. The boys will be assigned June 5. |
