DEAR FORUM: I, one of Springville's dear art lovers, surely was disappointed in Springville's Centennial 1950 Art Exhibit "prize" purchase "He Said, She Said." May I ask a question which is the question of many, many Springville citizens. "Who selects se-lects the 'prize' picture?" Surely not the Art Board! One Springville Spring-ville citizen voiced the comment to me and I quote: "If 'He Said, She Said,' was crated back up and placed aside, very few people would ever miss it" (unquote). I think it would be better to select a painting every other year, now , that our "collection" has grown to such a large number. Surely a valuable, appreciated painting purchased every two years would addmore to our "Art Collection" than purchasing one or two much less valuable paintings every year. When Springville holds her annual an-nual Art Exhibit next April, why not exhibit our own collection to the many, many visitors who come from all parts of the world to see our exhibit. True, we have succeeded in having our art gallery open every afternoon during the summer, but there are many visitors visi-tors who come during the month of April who never return at any other time during the year. Wouldn't it be' nice for them to see our own "owned beautiful paintings" paint-ings" during an April ' show next year and not make another purchase pur-chase like "He Said, She Said." Enuff said! AN INTERESTED ART FAN. |
