Show Interesting Book Reviewed At Club Members of the Ladies Literary club enjoyed a meeting last Thursday Thurs-day evening at the home of Mrs. Eugene Johnson, where Mrs. Paul Walker reviewed the book, "The Peabody Sisters of Salem", by Louise Hall Tharpe. An interesting story of the life of these three famous sisters, the book told in fiction form of the romance of Mary Peabody, who married Horace Mann and traveled travel-ed west to found Antioch College; of a sister, Sophia, who married Nathaniel Hawthorne and of Elizabeth, Eliz-abeth, who devoted her life to others, teaching, establishing a library and traveling to Europe to inspect the schools. Ann Johnson entertained with two violin selections during the program also, which was under direction of Club President Mrs. Harold Christensen. Mrs. Christ-ensen Christ-ensen conducted a short business meeting. Reports were given on the recent district convention held at Ncphi by newly elected president, presi-dent, Mrs. Glen W. Sumsion and program chairman, Mrs. Edward Clyde. It was decided to conduct a no-hostess no-hostess luncheon at the Social Center in Spanish Fork next Thursday Thurs-day at 1 o'clock to conclude the regular meetings of the season. Mrs. Rea Straw was appointed to make arrangements. The club program was preceded with a nicely arranged lunch served serv-ed by the hostess to seventeen club members and Miss Faye Bearnson of Spanish Fork was special guest. |
