Leaders Invited i To Road Meet In Kanab Oct. 12 An estimated 300 business and civic leaders representing comuni-ties comuni-ties in five western states, Canada and old Mexico will attend the three day convention of the 89'ers International Highway Association scheduled to open at Kanab, Utah on Oct. 12. The convention agenda, as announced an-nounced by Martin H. Cantwell of Salt Lake City, executive secretary of the three nation highway organization, organ-ization, will combine the discussion discus-sion of tourist and highway matters mat-ters with sightseeing tours of Bryce and Zion National Parks in southern Utah, and both rims of Arizona's Grand Canyon. Close scrutiny of proposed state and federal road planning aimed at protecting the interests of existing ex-isting communities on U.S. 89, and increasing the facilities of the highway as a popular tourist route will occupy much of the convention agenda, Cantwell said. Promotional and publicity plans to be discussed will include the making of a colored movie of the entire international highway system, sys-tem, and the publishing of a highway high-way guide brochure containing detailed de-tailed information on all parks and recreational areas adjacent to the three nation route. The Association was organized two years ago, to publicize U.S. Route 89, Canada's Alberta route 2 and Mexico's newly paved west coast route 15 as the 4,000 mile north-south scenic highway of western North America which spans the three nations from Mexico Mex-ico City to Edmonton, Canada and |
