Show Traffic Increases ' Throughout State Traffic volume on Utah highways high-ways increased 7.5 per cent the first eight months of 1956 compared compar-ed with a similar period last year, the Utah Road Commission reported repor-ted today. The commission's highway planning plan-ning department also reported that 66.9 per cent of passenger cars passing Echo Junction were out of state cars, the largest percentage per-centage of out of state vehicles found at any station. The greatest traffic volume recorded re-corded was the 22,717 vehicles at South Lagoon Junction of US 91 and 89 on Aug. 18. The road commission added it spent $16,051,992 during the last fiscal year for highway construction construc-tion to accommodate the increased traffic. The figure represented a 393 per cent increase over the $3,-254,088 $3,-254,088 spent for 1946. |
