Show Scouts Advised To Make Plans For July Jamboree All Boy Scouts interested in attending at-tending the National Jamboree to be held at Valley Forge, Pa., July 12 to 18, 1957, should start preparation prepar-ation as soon as possible, according to Floyd Loveridge, Executive for the Utah National Parks Council of the Boy Scouts of America. A total of 50,000 Scouts and Scouters from all over the world will be in attendance.. Mr. Loveridge said that any registered reg-istered Scout who will be 12 years of age or older by January 1, 1957, and who will be a First Class Scout before the Jamboree, is eligible eli-gible to register for the Jamboree. The registration fee is $25.00 per boy. Those wishing to attend the Jamboree must have made reservations reser-vations at the Scout office in Provo, Pro-vo, Utah, before November 10, 1956. The Utah National Parks Council Coun-cil will be allowed to send 328 boys and leaders to the Valley Forge Jamboree, or an approximate approxi-mate average of one boy for each two Scouting units. A sightseeing trip has been planned plan-ned by the Council for those boys who go to the Jamboree. Included will be visits to Denver, Chicago, Detroit, Palmyra, N.Y., New York City, Philadelphia, Penn., and Washington D.C. There is a pos- sibility that a trip to Boston can also be arranged. All Scouts from the Utah National Na-tional Parks Councel will leave as a group from Provo by train and will be under the direction of responsible re-sponsible leaders at all times. In keeping with the Scout Law, which requires that each Scout pay his own way, Boys who are interested in-terested in going should begin to save now, so that they may share in the expense of the trip. Full information about the trip and the Jamboree should soon be in the hands of Scounmasters and Scout Commissioners. |
