Show Minutes of the Meeting of the Springville City Council, Feb. 20 - Regular meeting of the Springville Spring-ville City Council, held Monday, February 20, 1956 at 7:30 p.m. in the council chambers. Mayor A. W. Cherrington was in the chair. Roll call showed the following present: CI. Ruff, CI. Strong, CI. Child, CI. Nielson, CI. Whiting, Attorney At-torney Howard and City Recorder Ashcraft. Prayer was offered by Mayor A. W. Cherrington. The minutes of the previous meeting held Monday, February 6, e 1956, .were read and approved. David Friel, chairman of the Civil Defense committee, was present pres-ent in regards to the observation lookout tower. It was moved by CI. Nielson and seconded by CI. Whiting that the city be willing to furnish or provide the building or tower for the lookout station, providing pro-viding however, that the committee commit-tee organize and get the support necessary from the civic clubs and the Civil Defense and then request the lookout station be furnished. Child that the city allow the state road commission to take from the compound the fill material needed for raising the road on Fourth East between Seventh Sev-enth and Eighth South. CI. Child recommended that Utah Service, Inc., be allowed to move the irrigation ditch which crosses their property on Second South between Third and Fourth West, to the East side of their property. This to be done at the j expense of Utah Service, Inc. The j council approved this recommenua-; recommenua-; tion. It was moved by CI. Nielson and seconded by CI. Strong that Jay Strong be hired for the accounting ac-counting service in the city recorder's re-corder's office. Also, that Verl S. Dallin be appointed as Springville City Treasurer, with a monthly salary of $310. These proposals effective ef-fective immediately and passed unanimously. un-animously. It was moved by CI. Whiting and seconded by CI. Child that tne city-county health department be authorized to bait the city dump for rats. Also ask them to bait the old sewer out fall line. Child that the resolution be aopted authorizing the mayor to sign a quit claim deed, after the description has been checked, of the property of Emma Dougall Gardner on Buckley Ave., i to clear title. Passed unanimous. It was moved by CI. Nielson and j seconded by CI Ruff, that the resolution res-olution be adopted authorizing the mayor to sign a quit claim deed of the property of Gomar Phillips just west of his home to clear a title. It was moved by CI. Strong and seconded by CI. Whiting that wages be increased as follows: The following department heads: City Recorder, Chief of Police, Water Works Supt., Streets Supt, be increased in-creased $25 per month. That all salaried employees be increased $10 per month. The hourly men be increased 5c per hour. These increases in-creases to be effective March 1, 1956, Pased unanimous. It was moved by CI. Child and seconded by CI. Ruff that, effective effec-tive March 1, 1956, the city office be closed during the noon hour or from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Passed unanimous. Moved by CI.
