Show 9 Cougars Win Title With 75-50 Rout Of Denver Monday BYU won the Skyline Six basketball bas-ketball championship here Monday night with an overwhelming 75-50 score against Denver. The win gave the Cougars an opportunity to represent the Skyline area in the NCAA tournament in Kansas City beginning March 23. Nelson, Minson and Hutchins were outstanding, hitting 20, 19, and 12 points respectively for the Y. Jones and Whipple played stellar stel-lar guard positions and rang up 14 points between them. Hickey and Toft each got 18 for the second-place Denver team. BYU earned their title the hard way, after having dropped some unexpected games to teams along the victory way. They drubbed the Wyoming team both Friday and Saturday before clinching the title in Monday night's contest. |
