Show Mapleton Lady Lions Name Officers; j Mrs. Belva Wentz Is New President The Lady Lions of Mapleton reorganized re-organized this month with Belva Wentz, president, Marva Whiting, first vice president; Erma Hjrth, second vice president; and Louise Hjorth secretary and treasurer. Officiating last year were Kath-erine Kath-erine Harris, Pres.; Florence Allen, Al-len, first vice president; Gladys Johnson, second vice president and Carol Griffith, secretary and treasurer. j Mr. ond Mrs. Elmer Larsen and family accompanied by Mr. Martie Larsen spent the weekend in St. George. They attended the wedding reception of a niece while there. Mrs. Florence Stone left last week for New York City in company com-pany with her son Leonard and grandson Glen Wheeler. They will visit at the home of her daughter Vera who is making her home there. Leonard and Glen will return re-turn after a week's visit but Mrs. Stone will remain a month. Mrs. Marva Whiting spent several sev-eral days in Needles, California visiting at the home of her son and his wife Mr. ond Mrs. Milo Johnson John-son and family. She brought her two grandchildren Kathy and Glen home with her to spend the summer. sum-mer. The Busy Fingers 4-H club met Mapleton News By Mrs. Xorris T. Binks Phone HU 9-5875 at the home of Sharon Ellis June 20 with Beth Bird and Cora Ellis in charge. The time was spent in embroidering luncheon cloths and sewing on buttons properly. A safety talk was given by Shoron Ellis. Mr. and Mrs. Kelley Johnson have gone to Los Angeles where Mrs. Johnson will undergo an ear operation. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Hiller of Salt Lake City, Dr. C. I. Draper and sons Bruce and Howard of Logan and Blaine Hales of Logan spent Sunday at the Reid M. Hales home. Mr. ond Mrs.. Glen Martin have a new baby girl at their home born Wednesday June 20 at the Utah Valley hospital. A week prior to that Glen was in the hospital for a major operation. A supper party was enjoyed on the back lawn of Mr. and Mrs. Royal Binks Saturday evening. The honored guests were E. E. Binks, Norris T. Binks and Mae Binks, whose birthdays have oc-cured oc-cured recently. Guests included Zina Dibble, Hannah Binks ond her daughter and son-in-law and family Mr. and Mrs. Max Douglas, Lillian Binks, Amanda Binks, Joe and the guests of honor and the hosts. A social after noon was spent Thursday at the home of Mrs. Gwen Allen when she entertained the members of the Needle Craft club. Social chat and rfreshments were enjoyed by twelve club members. mem-bers. The hostesses were Marva Whiting, Martha Whiting ond Amanda Binks. This was the concluding con-cluding meeting of the season. A short business meeting was held and new officers for the coming com-ing year were elected. Mrs. Inez Harmer will be the new president, with Mrs. Blva Wentz as vice president pres-ident and Mrs. Gwen Allen secretary secre-tary and treasurer. They replace Vanda Jensen, president; Alga Mackley, vice president and Harriet Har-riet Nielson, secretary and treasurer. treas-urer. Mrs. Reed Clegg and children of Salt Lake City spent the weekend at the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. Willis Harmer while her husband was in San Froncisco on a business trip. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Harmer are rejoicing over the arrival of a baby girl born June 12 in the i Hughes hospital in Spanish Fork. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Perry had several relatives call at their home last week. Mr. and Mrs. George Butler of Texas spent one day with them and also visited with relatives in Spanish Fork. Mr. and Mrs. Reed Butler of San Francisco also spent a day with them. Mrs. Perry's sister and brother-in-law and family Mr. and Mrs. Dale Olson Ol-son of Rigby, Idaho spent Saturday Satur-day and Sunday with them. They came especially to attend the J. A. Butler reunion in Spanish Fork Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Vickers of Beaver were also callers at the Dave Perry home during the week. |
