Show Gasoline Refund Blanks Available Under a law enacted on April 2, farmers are entitled to claim refunds re-funds each year for the Federol excise tax on gasoline used on a farm for farming purposes. Utah County Farm Bureau is mailing to each farmer in the county a refund blank and pamphlet pamph-let telling how to claim a refund re-fund of the tax on gasoline used during the 6-month period January Janu-ary 1 through June 30, 1956. In future years each claim will cover the 12-month period beginning July 1 and ending June 30. The new law does not relate in any way to State taxes on gasoline. gaso-line. Any owner, tenant, or operator who buys gasoline for use on a farm may claim a refund. Two cents on each gallon of gasoline gas-oline purchased after 1955 and used during the first 6 months of 1956 on a farm for farming purposes pur-poses can be claimed. These claims may be filed after June 30, but not after October 1, 1956. The law does not permit late claims to be paid or more than one claim to be filed for the 6-month 6-month period ended June 30, 1956. You should keep sufficient records to enable the Internal Revenue Service to verify the accuracy of the amount claimed. |
