Show A "chick" party was held at the home of Miss Emma Ullock last Saturday night. An attractive color scheme in blue and black was effectively carried out in decorations. dec-orations. Nelson of this city wish to announce the engagement of their daughter Bernice, to Maurice G. Barnett, son of Superintendent Owen L. Barnett of Nebo district schools and Mrs. Barnett of Spanish Fork. The marriage will take place March 17, in the Salt Lake temple. Mrs. Guy Strong was hostess to members of the W. N. O. club at her home Friday evening. The group enioved social chat and the afternoon. The group enjoyed games followed by a tasty lunch with a pretty birthday cake as the central decorative figure. Mrs. Thelma Whitty of Martinez, Mar-tinez, .Calif., and Ralph Noakes of Oakland, Calif., are spending a few "days in Springville. They came for the funeral of their father, William I. Noakes, last Thursday. Mrs. Polly Day of Elmo and Daid Noakes of Logan, were in Springville the past week to attend at-tend the funeral of their brother, YVilLum Noakes. Members of the S. T. club were delightfully entertained last Wednesday Wed-nesday night, at the home of Mrs. Ed Johnson. A well arranged spring luncheon was served at small tables early in the evening and later contract bridge was played. High score prize was awarded to Mrs. J. W. Little Mary Ellen Mendenhall entertained with a song accompanied by her sister, Nida, and Carma Jean Mendenhall Menden-hall gave a piano selection. Mrs. Maude Thorn gave a report of the district board meeting and Mrs. Lou Binks gave an interesting paper on "Is Reading Worth While," President Philda Finley had the program in charge. In attendance were about 18 club members and six guests. L. G. C. club members held a delightful meeting last Saturday night, at the home of Mlwg Lois Johnson with Marjorie Whiting assisting hostess. For her little granddaughter Lou Ann Dalby, whose eighth bvthday was Wednesday, Mrs. Retta Sumsion entertained at a nicely arranged party in the late club year was enjoyed by Ladies Literary club members Thursday night, at the home of Mrs. F. C. Packard, where Howard Salisbury in an interesting and comprehensive, comprehen-sive, manner, reviewed the opera 'Acida," and in connection with the review played a number of records to illustrate parts of the composition. He also gave interesting inter-esting remarks on opera composition composi-tion in general and told of the works of outstanding musicians and composers. Mrs. Harold Chris-tensen Chris-tensen entertained with a vocal sclo, with piano accompaniment by Mrs. V. C. Mendenhall. Preceding Pre-ceding the program, a tasty lunch was served by the hostess host-ess to seventeen club members and one guest. Mrs. Maurine Hay- tor in' the university at Terre Haute, Ind., has just returned from an interesting and delightful delight-ful trip to the big Mardi Gras celebration at New Orleans. She made the trip there and return by airplane, stopping for short visits at St. Louis and Jackson, Miss., according to word received by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. George A. Andesron, of this city.
