Show DAIRY STOCK SHOW TO BE HELD INMAY Initial plans for Springville's first daily stock show which promises to be an outstanding annual event, to be held the first week in May, were announced today. W. H. Anderson, 'high school agricultural instructor, has been elected president of an or- ganization which will direct arrangements ar-rangements for the show. Dell Gay is vice president; Lewis Childs, secretary-treasurer; A. G. Peterson, Heber Houtz and Earl Diamond, board members. It is proposed to begin within a few days on construction of daiiy show barns to be built on the Recreation park where the show will be held. Cooperation of the city council on the project has been assured and with funds now on hand, dairymen are waiting wait-ing approval of plans for the barn before actual work will begin. Preceding the dairy show, it is planned to hold a number of showmanship classes where instructions in-structions will be given on preparation prep-aration of animals for the exhibit. ex-hibit. While it will be impossible to award cash prizes for winners in the first show, ribbons will be given and a silver trophy awarded to the grand champion. Winners in the local "dairy show will be advised to enter the state Junior Livestock show at Spanish Fork immediately after the Springville show. A competent judge from out-of-town will be secured for the judging and other arrangements for the show will be carried out in the very best manner possible. Dairymen of the community are enthusiastic in their efforts to make the first show a success. Other, details for the event will be announced as plans progress. One of the main purposes of the show is to stimulate interest inter-est in a higher grade of dairy stock production in this vicinity. |
