A number of relics were contributed to the hall, during the afternoon, and it was announced that contributions would be received here after the regular meeting to purchase show cases for the relics. Y. U. gave a splendid rendition of the three-act play, "When Ladies Meet" at the Fourth ward chapel, Thursday evening. Pro- j gressivc 500 was the feature of j entertainment with prizes won by Mrs. Clifford Jcx of Spanish Fork and Miss Amanda Jones of Provo. Other guests present were Mrs. Myron Childs, Mrs. Vadal Childs, Mrs. Paul Haymond, Mrs. Clara Payne, Mrs. G. G. Neill, Miss Ida Packard, Miss Bcrnice Faucett, Miss Fern Bate, Miss Bernice Tipton, Tip-ton, Mrs. Maud Piute of Salt Lake, and Mrs. Flizabeth Jones. Cranmer entertained at a shower Saturday afternoon for Mrs. Fred Humphrey, formerly Miss Bernice Hansen of Benjamin. Guests from Provo, Eureka, Mammoth Mam-moth and Benjamin attended. Games were played and luncheon was served to twenty-five guests who presented the honor guest with a nice assortment of beautiful beauti-ful and useful gifts. Elder Carl Behunin of Los Angeles, An-geles, Calif., spent the past several sev-eral days as the guest of F. Berne Kindred his missionary companion in the central states. A conjoint meeting of the two Springville camps of the D. Uv P. was held Thursday afternoon at the Relic hall, with Mrs. J. M. Brown in charge. . Of an attendance attend-ance of about 120 members and guests fifteen were over seventy years of age. The program included includ-ed patriotic music by Mrs. Ileen Bird and Mrs. Minerva Jessee, who gave a violin duet, accompanied accompan-ied by Mrs. Ila Carter; vocal solos, Mrs. Ellen Anderson; pledge to the flag, led by Mrs. Julia Packard; Pack-ard; reading, Miss Lucy Wain-wright; Wain-wright; instrumental selections, Miss Evelyn Larson. Talks on relics, given by Mrs. Mary J. Finley and Mrs. Milessa Thompson Thomp-son were other enjoyable features of the program. The invocation was offered by Mrs. Mary K. A review of the book, "The Soft Spot" by Mrs. Mae Huntington Hunting-ton of the high school faculty will feature the meeting of the Ladies' Literary club Saturday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Rhea Straw. Guy Brown who has been ill for the past several weeks was taken to Salt Lake Wednesday for a medical examination. , Complimentary to Mr. and Mrs. Nolan Weight who were recently married, Miss Nell Weight of Salt Lake, assisted by Mrs. Willis Weight, and Mrs. Minerva Weight entertained at a miscellaneous shower at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Weight) last Saturday evening. Games, social chat and lunch were enjoyed, and a lovely assortment of gifts were received by the honored guests. Luncheon was served in conclusion to about thirty guests. Members of the Social Twelve card club will be guests of Mrs. Emma Rowland at her home Thursday evening beginning at 8 o'clock. The Busy Finger club were guests of Mrs. LaVern Beardall at he rhome Thursday afternoon. Preceeding a dainty luncheon sewing sew-ing and social chat were enjoyed. Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Sumsion and Mrs. Susan Miller of Chester, Utah, visited relatives and friends here early last week. A cleverly ararnged "pep program" pro-gram" was held at tho high school Friday forenoon. Miss Addie Wright of Provo entertained entertain-ed with readings; Miss Glenna Kennedy and Jimmie Neill with songs and dance numbers; Verl Harrison, obo solo; Elvin Peterson and Tom Latimer, vocal solos. A group of girls from the junior high school also presented a unique Valentine stunt in costume. |
