Show BLACK HAWK CELEBRATION IS GALA AFFAIR i With about 600 people in attendance at-tendance from Springville, Maple-Urn Maple-Urn and Spanish Fork, the annual an-nual Black Hawk social here Friday Fri-day night was one of the most successful yet held. At 6 o'clock a sumptous picnic supper was spread on tables extending ex-tending the full length of the high school gymnasium. Over 300 people attended this function. Following the supper a splendid program was given with chairman M. F. Miner in charge. Elmer Bird, representing Captain Cap-tain East ham Clegg, and W. W. Clyde, councilman, extended a wctcocome to all present; vocal selections were given by the Mapleton Male quartet including, Leo Marshbanks, Freeman Bird, Harvey Mendcnhall and Wayne Holley; vocal solos, Spencer Mack-ley, Mack-ley, Mapleton ; Gladys Williams. Spanish Fork, Ellen Anderson, and Frank Bjarnson, vocal duet, Jack and Louise Evans, instrumental music Anna Miner and Afton Bringhurst; stunt, Norma Harrison Harri-son and Coba Caf fel ; dance ensemble, en-semble, directed by Tess C. Packard Pack-ard including, Delia Baxter, Venice Whiting, Dama Grant, Enid Pennington, Pen-nington, Marjorie Child, Jacleline Senior, Pauline Claudin and Dick Ncill; reading, Mrs. Laura Shepherd Shep-herd of Spanish Fork. Captain Ed. Motiy and John Hughes of Spanish Fork and Alma Fullmer, first vice-chairman of the state organization, gave short talks The Black Hawk Indian war veterans and their wives and Black Hawks war veterans widows wid-ows including . eleven prerfmt,, were special guests. Mr. David Wheeler 92, was the oldest in attendance. It was announced that the annual an-nual election of officers of the local Black Hawk committee would be held Saturday night at the public library. A dance concluded the evening's program. |
