The First ward, Mapleton have cinched spots in the regional M Men basketbal ltournament to be held in Provo starting Feb. 20. Both winner and runner-up of the Kolob stake will be entered in this meet. The First ward should end the schedule on top while Mapleton is certain of runner-up with a possibility of a tie for the top. , The First ward won their sixth straight game last week by defeating de-feating Second ward 41-24. Sumsion, Sum-sion, L. Weight and Van Leuvan led the First warders while Chilus was the big gun for the Second. The Third ward set the pace for the week with two victories, their first of the season, over Mapleton Maple-ton by the score of 48-28 and Fourth ward the score being 48-17. Mapleton broke even for the week but .cinched a tourney berth when they downed the Second ward Saturday evening a thriller.: Mapleton led until the last quarter quar-ter when the Second rallied to tie the score twice only to see N.Jensen N.-Jensen tank one in the last minute to put the game on ice for Maple- i ton. Strong and Childs were best for the Second while the two Nielson Niel-son boys looked best for the win--ners. , . The filial games on the schedule sched-ule will find the First at Mapleton Wednesday, Feb. 14, and matched, with the Fourth, Saturday, Feb 17, in the S. H. S. gym. The Second ward will meet the Fourth ward Wednesday, Feb. 14 and the Third Saturday, Feb. 17, both games being played in the S. H. S. gym. |
