Show I Mapleton j BY FERL MELSON Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Malmstrom, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hidlund and Miss LaRue Whitehead of Salt Lake were week end visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Austin Houtz and family. The Mapleton Daughters of Pioneers Pio-neers are giving a party Thursday evening in the school house. The theme being an old fashioned dance and party, with all members and their partners dressed for the occasion. Mapleton M Men scored victorious victori-ous over the Second ward M Men last Saturday. The closest rivals proved to be the First ward. This game will have been played Wednesday Wed-nesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Whiting and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Whiting motored to Salt Lake Sunday to be with Mrs. J. M. Whiting, who underwent un-derwent a serious operation at the L. D. S. hospital. Mrs. Whiting is in a very serious condition at the present time. A group of friends entertained for Miss Wilma Whiting in honor of her birthday at the home of Miss Louise Plumlee, Saturday night. After enjoying the show at the Rivoli, they returned to the Plumlee home and enjoyed a dainty midnight luncheon. They then went to the home of Miss Muriel Jensen and had a slumber party. The following were present: Grace Holley, LaRie Perry, Ber-niece Ber-niece Evans of Springville, Wilma Whiting, Louise Plumlee, Ruth Wiscombe, Irene Jensen, and Muriel Jensen. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Hansen gave a dinner Sunday in honor of Mrs. Melba Tew Hayes. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Paul Thorn, Mr. and Mrs. Hansen and children and the guest of honor. Mrs. Hayes and daughter, Betty Collette, are leaving today for New York City to make their home. Mrs. Anna Welch entertained last Friday afternoon in honor of Mrs. Melba Tew Hayes. Guests were Mrs. Hannah Callister, Mrs. Ina Otteson. Lovely Japanese "avors were given to all present. A nice luncheon was served. |
