Show J CLIPPINGS I From The j jjvMRWAYj George Schneiter, professional at the Ogden Country club, sank a 20-foot putt on the last hole to win the July Professional sweepstakes sweep-stakes of Utah Monday at the Provo Municipal course. Schneiter's great putt gave him a 67 for the course, three under par and one under the 68 of Tee Branca, Fort Douglas pro, who had visions of tying for the top spot until Schneiter unlimbered his favorite putter. With scores of 74, John Geert-son, Geert-son, El Monte, and Sid Harmon, Nibley Park tied for third place. Gecrtson made a magnificent drive on the No. 5 hole, a blast that hummed over the course for 340 yards of the 510-yard hole. Branca scored an eagle on the No. 9 hole. The hole is 503 yards. Schneiter's game was good all-around all-around but he appeared especially adroit at getting out of the traps. His 67 score was within a single stroke of the course record set by Ed Kingsley of Ogden recently. Had the winner's first round been near his second, he would have cut the record to ribbons. He scored a 31 on the second round, 4 under par, after going around in 36 on the Jirst |
