Show ELDER WIDTSOE IS SPEAKER AT CONFERENCE Elder John A. Widtsoe of the Council of Twelve Apostles represented repre-sented the church general authorities author-ities at Kolob slake quarterly conference con-ference here, Sunday. The Sat-night Sat-night meeting at the Third ward chapel was under the direction of the stake priesthood. During the Sunday forenoon sessions, ses-sions, Dr. Widtsoe spoke on the value of tactfulness In the mission field. He urged the saints to keep missionaries in the field proclaiming pro-claiming the gospel. President J. Emmett Bird, in charge of the meeting, spoke briefly. Mrs. Mae Huntington, president of the stake primary, gave a brief talk of the Primary work. Miss Vernessa Hutchings, who recently returned from a mission, also spoke during the morning session. Among other things, Dr. Widtsoe Widt-soe spoke on "Devine Inspiration," in the afternoon. He gave a number num-ber of stories and faith promoting incidents which had come to him during his travels both here and abroad. Other speakers were Howard Maycock, Howard Bird, Miss Josephine Jos-ephine Brimhall and Cornell Jes-see, Jes-see, returned missionaries. Music at the general conference session was furnished by Miss Helen Palfreyman, and. Mrs. Julia Sumsion, Ralph B. Weight and son Newell gave a cornet duet during the afternoon; Mrs. Lela Packard gave a vocal solo; as did also Virl Jones, and Elvin Peterson. Peter-son. Mrs. Mary Bird and Mrs. Julia Sumsian were accompanists. The stake M. I. A. had charge of the evening meeting with Ray Alleman as principal speaker. Music was given by Miss Verona Condie who rendered a vocal solo; Carol and Eulalia Condie, lone Averett and Claudia Billings, string music, and Frank Butler, a cornet solo. |
