Show VESSELS ARM FOR 'PIRATES' GLOUCESTER. Mass., July 17 (U.R) Bitter differences between two factions of the Gloucester fishing fleet, involving charges of piracy, caused vessels to arm for possible warfare nt sea when they left port here today. Any outbreak between rival firemen was expected outside the 12-mile limit, as coast guards kept careful watch on the boats within territorial waters. The trouble came to an open break Saturday when the schooner Leretha, skippered by Captain John Morash, allegedly was overhauled over-hauled and ordered to return to port under threat of scuttling. Disturbances were laid to low prices and salting mackerel aboard ship. One side charges salting should be done ashore by unemployed unem-ployed fishermen. |
