Show SNOWFALL ON RIVER IS DOUBLED Precipitation For Four-Month Period Is 6 Per Cent Above Normal; Plentiful Supply Seen for Farms and Towns. Visions of bumper crops on Utah county farms and ample water supply for local municipalities, muni-cipalities, constitute one of the brightest spots in the prospects for the coming year according to iana bureau and county, extension officials. Farmers will be relieved of the worry of a water shortage, at least if present indications are to be relied re-lied upon. A report by T. Frank Wentz, Provo river commissioner, as of February 1, shows that there is more than twice as much snow in the hills now than there was a year ago. The reported precipitation is 106 per cent of normal, as compared com-pared with 46 per cent of normal a year ago. Accumulation Shown The total precipitation frotn October Oc-tober 1 to February 1 is shown by Mr. Wentz" report to be 7.08 inches as compared with only 3.09 inche; during the corresponding period last year. With the mean precipitation preci-pitation 6.65 inches, there is an ao cumulation of .43 of an inch in stead of last year's deficiency on February 1 of 3.56. The snow cover over the head ol the river was more than six feet on February 1, according to Mr. Wentz. The entire Heber valley is covered to a depth of nearly three feet, which is 2.3 times the quantity on record last year. |
