Show UMAN IS FOUND BY SEARCHERS Mrs. Lucy Barton, 83, is in Danger of Critical Illness Alter Exposure of 21 Hours in Mountains. CEDAR CITY, Utah, July 29 (UP) Mrs. Lucy A. Barton, Bar-ton, an 83-year-old pioneer ..who was slightly resentful over being left behind by I young folks, was in grave I danger today of critical ill- ness following 21 hours of wandering and waiting in the Ka-narra Ka-narra mountain country within a half mile of where Maury Graham's Gra-ham's wrecked plane was found. Crawls Over Hocks Mrs. Barton was found late Monday. She was sitting on the brink of a 100-foot canyon "just waiting for somebody to come along." At first she seemed in good condition, despite the exposure, expo-sure, but later relapsed into delirium. delir-ium. The aged pioneer whose residence resi-dence in Utah dates back to 1853, and whose western experiences include in-clude Indian fights, asked to be driven to the site of the Graham plane Sunday. Her granddaughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Douglas, complied and drove to within one-half anile of the wreck. There they insisted that the walk was too arduous for the aged woman, wom-an, and suggested she wait in the car. After they left, Mrs. Barton decided de-cided to follow. Soon she found the pat hup too sleep. Unable to see well and too weary to walk, she crawled over the rocky, brushy ground, trying to find her way back. Finally she decided the sensible sen-sible thing was to lemain still and wait. She waited for 21 hours until un-til desperate posses finally found her within a quaiter of a. mile of the car. Attending physicians' feared the exposure which included a driving rainstorm, might rrause pneumonia. |
