All camp and county officers are ex-pected to be in attendance, an-nounced Mrs. Mary Smart, president. Mr., Mrs. Rolland Dean Johnson take vows in Logan LDS Temple Recently married in the Lo-gan LDS Temple were Mr. and Mrs. Rolland Dean Johnson. She is the former Miss Sondra Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Moroni Smith of Provo, and the groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Roy D. Johnson of Springville. Parents of the groom enter-tained at a wedding dinner in Salt Lake City following the wedding and the bride's parents hosted a wedding reception in Miller and Roy B. Beach. Mothers of the couple chose gowns in shades of pink ac-cented by white carnation cor-sages for the reception. Mrs. Russell Jackson was in charge of the guest book. Following a honeymoon trip to Southern Utah and Arizona, the couple will make a home in Provo, while the groom con-tinues his studies at Brigham Young University. the Nineteenth Ward in Provo. The bride was exquisitely gowned in white taffeta prin-cess styled with bodice trimmed with lace medallions embroid-ered with seed pearls and se-quins. The skirt swept into a phapel train and her bouffant veil flowed from a jeweled pill-box hat. She carried a crescent-shape- d bouquet of feathered carnations surrounding a white orchid. Mrs. Roy B. Beach, Mrs. J. Dale Miller, Mrs. J. Robert Smith, Mrs. Cleon T. Nielson, Mrs. Lee J. Bate, Mrs. Renae Taylor and Mrs. Michael Kanan were attendants. They wore shocking pink peau de soie gowns and carried crescents of light pink carnations and glad-ioli. Allan Roylance and Duane Poll were best men and ushers were J. Robert Smith, J. Senior Citizens plan outing Senior Citizens of Springville are reminded of the watermelon bust Saturday, August 31, at Kelly's Grove, beginning at 4 p.m. Everyone is asked to bring their own dishes and enough food of one kind to serve four or five people. It will be a pot luck supper followed and pre-ceded by games and visiting. In case of stormy weather, the party will be held in Mem-orial Hall. Cold water is on your right and hot water is on your left. Effan Bee Club at parties Effan Bee Club members were entertained at an early morning breakfast at the W. C. Harrison home recently with Mrs. Harrison, Lucille Turner and Lucille Roylance compris-ing the committee in charge. Visiting took up the time following breakfast enjoyed by Delia Hall, Jean Ivory, Ardis Killpack, Helen Kendall, Nola Palfreyman, Ada Mae Patrick, Beth Prothero, Reva Roylance, Verlain Swenson, Harriet Burt, Blanch Tipton and the hostess-es. Previous to the breakfast, the club group and their husbands were entertained in the garden of the Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Nielson home. Assisting with this party were Mrs. Howard Ivory, Mrs. Taylor Burt. Bonne Amitie Club gives parties The Bonne Amitie Club and their husbands were for a together barbeque patio supper at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Peterson. Assisting chairmen were Mr. and Mrs. Denny Mur-ray. After supper, games and vis-iting were enjoyed by the fol-lowing: Mr. and Mrs. Clair Barney, Mr. and Mrs. Kent Crandall, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Fe-l'- x, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Mc-Clai- n, Mr. and Mrs. David Nu-sin- k, Mr. and Mrs. Murray and Mr. and Mrs. Peterson. The ladies of the club also entertained Mondav at a r,ar- - ty for their children at the Ma-plet- Park with Mrs. McClain and Mrs. Marva Boyack, chair-men. Approximately thirty chil-dren and their mothers enjoyed the time with games, visiting and refreshments. JC Wives entertain at Hawaiian party Members of the Jaycee Wives entertained at a Hawaiian Luau recently in the yard at the home of Mr .and Mrs. LeRoy Jex. Typical decorations and lights gave an island atmos-phere. The dining table was center-ed with an attractive fruit sal-ad and as guests arrived they were greeted with a lei. Diana Allred in Hawaiian costume entertained during the evening with several dance numbers. In charge of the party was Joan Sundbloom, assisted by Iris Osborn, Norma Read, Car-l- a Jex, Lois Barney and Ger-aldi- Cook. A beautiful four-layer- wed-ding cake, the bottom of which was made up of four hearts featured bells and pink tipped rosebuds and wedding rings on the top layer. The young couple took a wed-ding trip to the Grand Mesa National Park in Colorado and are making their home at Ma-pleton, while both continue their education at Brigham Young University. Mr. and Mrs. Stephen M. Alvey and sons have been iting at the home of her par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Goble, the past month prior to leaving for his overseas tour of duty at Guam. Stephen formerly of Payson, is serving in the U. S. Navy. He grad-uated, July 26, from a course of instruction in Elec-tronics. Technician, Class A, he was a personnel man first class before his recent school-ing. They plan to be in Guam for about two and a half years. Club ends year The Jolley-Jil- l 4-- H club has finished a fun 1st year in 4-- this summer. Each one with the help of their leader Mrs. R'teen Cutler, made a shoe rack and luncheon cloth in a home improvement course. All received completion ribbons. They entered their luncheon cloths in county competition at the vocational school in Pro-vo last week and seven re-ceived blue ribbons and four red ribbons. Sharlene Ralphs and Brenda Taylor's luncheon clothes were chosen to go to the State Fair, according to Brenda Taylor, reporter. Widen your horizons . . . Fiets Bien Club has summer party Fiets Bien members took advantage of the fine summer evenings to have a party for husbands Friday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. Rolla Hall. Dinner was served in the gar-den and was followed by a pleasant time with games and visiting. A buffet supper was served and the president, Mrs. Marie Johnson welcomed all present including Mrs. Ralph Peay, a new member. JC auxiliaries visit training school Some fifty auxiliary members to Jaycee Clubs from Spring-ville, Mapleton, Orem, Spanish Fork, Provo and Payson joined in a tour recently of the State Training School at American Fork. Officials at the school con-ducted the tour, explaining the use of the buildings, describing types of students and cause of their illness and discusing some of the needs of the institution. Kitchen equipment, and clothes which do not need dry cleaning, in all sizes and more volunteer workers, were some of the items listed. Funds ' are also needed for improvement of the various departments, they were told. Members of the Springville JC Wives, who invited the groups believe it gave other clubs a better understanding of the school and its problems. Special appreciation was ex-pressed to the presidents of the various organizations who co-operated in making the tour a success. Many of the clubs since have expressed a desire to support the school. DUP camp holds summer party Camp Mountain View DUP spent a delightful afternoon on Thursday at a summer party and lunch at the Fourth-Tent- h Ward Church. A pot luck din-ner and visiting took up the time and those in attendance signed a get-we- ll card to send to Mrs. Lydia Palfreyman, a member, who is staying with her daughter, Mrs. lone P. Ol-se- n at Fort Collins, Colo. In attendance were Kather-in- e Russell, Leonia Cameron, Afton Palfreyman, Emily An-derson, Nettie Thorn, Emma Jacobsen, Dorothy Wheeler, Hattie Williams, Lela Sumsion, Teresa Loback, Jean Ashby, Cornelia Allan, Maraby Bear-dall. Mr. and Mrs. Irving Shaffer and son of New York City, N. Y., were overnight guests this week at the home of Mrs. May Child, enroute to their home from a trip to California. Mrs Child and her late husband be-friended Mr. Shaffer when he was a home-sic- k youth serv-ing with the CCC camp in Hobble Creek canyon. He nev-v- er forgot their kindness and for the past 30 years had sent a Christmas card. It was the first time he had been back to Springville since CCC camp days. |
