Mrs. Graham, cooked a sum-pto-dinner for the evening and following the dinner, Miss Joan Arden of New Zealand, a guest at the Don Miner home, entertained the group with a talk, films and musical Among special guests ' was Bruce Deeben newly appointed utility man Lawson (Jack) Davies of Toledo, Ohio, formerly of Springville, visited briefly on Monday with friends here on a business trip for Kaiser Jeep Corp. He also attended the 30th reunion of the Spanish Fork high school Class of 1933, and left immediately for Dallas, Texas. His wife was the former Cleo Hales Karen Hatfield engaged to wed Elvin Ostler in temple August 30 A late summer wedding ceremony in the Salt Lake Temple is being planned by Miss Karen Hatfield, attractive daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cloid Hatfield of this city, and Elvin Ostler, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Ostler, also of Springville. The wedding date is August 30 and the same evening a reception in the First-Twelf- th Ward Church will honor the couple. Both are graduates of Springville High School and the LDS Seminary here, and both have attended Brigham Young University, the bride-ele- ct in 1961-6- 2 and her husband-to-b- e in 1959-6- 0. He recently returned from an LDS mission to the Central States. ' i i r w t i ' Salt Lake City is new home of Mr., Mrs. Darrell Erickson Now at home in Salt Lake City are recently marrieds, Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Erickson. She is the former Miss Ruth Wentz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. Mastin Wentz of Mapleton and the groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Fred Erickson of Springville. The marriage took place at RECENT BRIDE Mrs. Darrell Erickson, the former Miss Ruth Wentz of Mapleton will reside in Salt Lake City. Oakcrest Inn where the cere-mony was performed by Bish-op Del Moine Christensen of the Twelfth Ward, and was followed by a lovely reception. Attractively gowned in silk organza designed with semi-chap- el train, long pointed sleeves and lace-trimm- fit-ted bodice, the charming bride made a striking picture. Her veil' was elbow length falling from a seed-pea- rl head piece and she carried a bouquet of bronze roses and carnations. Attending the bride were Mrs. Linda Bartholomew, ma-tron-- --honor; Mary Jane Bird, Mrs. Barbara B. Lee, Mrs. Marilyn Barney, Diana Al'le-ma- n, and Susan Friel, brides-maids. They wore bronze shad-ed dresses and carried a sing-le mum. Lynn and Karen Jones were flower girls. Marvin Erickson was best man for his brother and Karl Erickson was ring bearer. The receiving line included the parents of the couple, Mrs. Wentz wearing a bronze colored gown and Mrs. Erick-son, green. At the guest register were Jaunita Stewart and Linda Hall. Serving were Susan Burt, Mary Hjorth, Diane Bearnson, Jill Tuttle and Kathy Robert-son. Judy and Cleo Eickson, Lillian Black, Pat Hall, Susan Harmer and Jane Childs ar-ranged the gifts assisted by Jayne Tuttle, Carl Robertson, Ronnie Wentz, Debbie Jones and Susan Robertson, gift bearers. Mrs. Arthur Finley offere-d grace. Chairman Grace Martindale nlcomed the group and gave s brief history of the organ-iation- .. Following dinner, she introduced Mrs. Mae Child as raster of ceremonies. In original verse, Mrs. Child paid tribute to Mrs. Jessie J. Dalton, Mrs. Belle Thomas and Mrs. Eliza T. Bringhurst of Salt Lake City who presented the program, preceded by group singing led by Mrs. Mary H. Weight. Mrs. Martindale also read a number of cards from mem-bers of the group unable to attend this year's party. A highlight of .the evening was a report by Mrs. Dalton on her trip to Europe in which she told of many places of in-terest in various countries in-cluding Spain, Holland, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, France and England. Preceding her talk, Mrs. Thomas played pi-ano selections representative of music from the various lands. The program concluded with solos by Mrs. Bringhurst, "The Hills of Home," and "Home, Sweet Home," accompanied by Mrs. Thomas. Elected to serve as chairman of the 1964 party was Mrs. Vanda M. Jensen of Mapleton. 3Ir. and Mrs. H. M. Weight, accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Grant Crandall of Brigham City on a few days fishing trip to Fish Lake the past week. Recovering-Alvi- R. Beardall is recov-ering nicely from a recent ma-jor operation which confined him to the hospital a week. I ' Cora Lee Johnson, Spring-ville beautician who was re-appointed regional chairman at the recent national Hair-dressers and Cosmetologists Association Convention at Las Vegas, where she was also named financial secre-tary of the national organi-zation. Nearly 4000 members bers attended. The local unit also took first in special awards in recognition of publicity on the 1963 Beau-ty Salon Week. Garden party honors bride here following California wedding were arranged by Diana All-re- d and Mrs. Dale Allred as-sisted by Kent Erickson and Allan Robertson, gift bearers. Serving were Carol Finley, Susan Hardy and Kathleen Fietkau. Following the marriage in California, a bridal party and buffet supper was given by an aunt, Mrs. Eleanor Strawn at Temple City, Calif. Attending the nuptial event from Utah were Mrs. Erickson were her sisters, Marsha, Kathy and Judy who were all attired and daughters Marsh, Kathy and Judy and Mr. and Mrs. Kay Johnston of Spanish Fork. The new bride will make her home in Springville until her husband completes his service in the Navy. Complimenting her daughter, Mrs. Linda E. Johnston, wed recently in California, Mrs. Quentin Erickson entertained at a wedding party in the gardens at their home one evening last week. The bride's husband Gary Johnston of Spanish Fork, is presently serving in the .Navy stationed in San Diego, Calif. She greeted guests in her wedding gown of white crysta-lin- e with lace bodice and a short veil attached to a lace crown. Assisting her in the line were her mother, wearing flowered turquoise and the mother of the groom, Mrs. Thelma Johnston of Spanish Fork, in green lace. Their flowers were white mums. Standing with the bride were her sisters, Mrsha, Kathy and judy who were all attired in matching turquoise dresses. LaRue Child was at the guest register and the gifts Family party honors serviceman Mr. and Mrs. John B. Thorn entertained at a family gather-ing in honor of their son, John who has been home on a leave from the Hawiian Islands where he is stationed with the Marine Corps. Out-of-to- guests included Mr. and Mrs. Richard B. Thorn of Riverton; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Van Ausdal, Provo, Mr. and Mrs. John D. Shepherd, Levan; grandpar-ents, and the following aunts and uncles: Mr. and Mrs. John J. Shepherd of Magna; Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Cowan, Nephi; and Roger Shepherd of Levan. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Weight and two children of Peery vi-sited over the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Weight and other relatives and friend here. Sherio Miller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Miller is spending a month with her cousin June Thorn Arbon and husband and children at Ox-nar- d, Calif. |
