Show Law prohibits carrying of loaded firearm Utah law prohibits the carrying car-rying of a loaded firearm in any vehicle at any time. This reminder was issued by the Department of Fish and Game today as the warming days of spring find more and more people going outdoors. This , law has been in effect nearly four years ago when it was passed by the 1959 session of the State Legislature. Since that time several thousand arrests ar-rests have been, made for violations vio-lations of this law. Goal of the legislation was to reduce the frequent gun accidents ac-cidents which occur when this rule is violated. Accident figures fig-ures to date indicate a steady drop in car gun type accidents acci-dents as a result. The law reads, "No person shall carry in any vehicle any firearms which have live ammunition am-munition in the firing chamber, cham-ber, other than a peace officer in performance of his duties or persons with a valid permit to carry firearms for the protection pro-tection of life or property." Firing chambers as defined by law include both barrels of a double barreled shotgun and all chambers in the .cylinder of a revolver. |
