A New Year's Eve supper was enjoyed by a group of friends at the Social Center in Spanish Fork. Guests in-cluded Mr. and Mrs. Marcellus Nielson, Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Mackenzie, Mr. and Mrs. Wil-lis Harmer, Mr. and Mrs. Wal-do- n Hurst, Mr. and Mrs. S. Lavell Bird, Mr. and Mrs. Ar-thur Harmer, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Holley, Mr. and Mrs. Norris T. Binks and Mrs. How-ard Whiting. Supper was fol-lowed by several games of "500." Mr. and "Mrs. Norris T. Binks motored to Salt Lake City Sun-day evening to attend a fam-ily supper at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Kearns. Other guests were Mrs. Amy Erick-so- n, Mrs. Edith Erickson, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Erickson and Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Clark all of Salt Lake City and Mr. and Mrs. Orlando Erickson of Murray. The group were enter-tained with colored slides shown by Mr. and Mrs. Or-lando Erickson taken while on a European tour during the past summer. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Perkins Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Macken-zie are leaving Friday for an extended trip to the West In-dies. They plan to go by way of Phoenix, Ariz., Baton Rouge and on to Miami, Florida, where they will leave their car and sail for the Islands. They will visit Columbia, Guadeloupe, Trinidad, Nassau and Trujillo and will stop at Haiti, Puerto Rico and Ja-maica in the Virgin Islands. They will go by raft up the Rio Grande River, then on to Antonio, Texas and back to Miami, Florida where they will pick up their car for the re-turn trip home. They plan to be home in the latter part of March or early in April. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Jensen and family of Magna spent the holidays in Mapleton. Several Mapleton residents spent the holidays out of town with families and relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Mendenhall were in Brea, California with their daughter Larraine (Mrs. David DeYoung) and family with whom they visited two weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Freeman Bird motored to Texas to spend Christmas with the Bill Brad-ford- s who are making their home there. They also visited with their son Robert and his family in California and with Dr. "and Mrs. Eugene Robert-son in Wyoming before return-ing home. Mapleton News By Mrs. Norris T. BInlcs PSone HUnter Mr. and Mrs. S. Lavell Bird are home after spending a de-lightful week in California where they spent Christmas day with his sister Lela. They were also guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ober-hansl-and with Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Bird while in California. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Holley enjoyed Christmas with their son Russell and family who live at Vernal. A house guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Har-mer is her mother, Mrs. Inez Ludlow of Benjamin who is spending several weeks with them. Christmas was a family af-fair at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Waldon Hurst who had all their children and their fami-lies home with the exception of one son Fred who is stationed with the army in Germany. Coming from Salt Lake City were the Wally Larsons and their family; from Idaho Mr. and Mrs. Bill Ertel and their children; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Gottfredson and children from Orem; Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Burt and family from Logan; Mr. and Mrs. Bob Hurst and entertained his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Perkins on Christmas Eve and day. His parents are from Layton. Mrs. Marie Morgan entered the Utah Valley Hospital last week for surgery. Robert Larson of Jerome, Idaho spent the holidays with his friend Jay Jensen. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Larson, formerlv of Manleton. The family of Mr. and Mrs. Frank M. Jensen were all home for Christmas. They in-cluded, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Chipman and family of Boun-tiful, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Laird and children of Provo, and the Paul Jensen and Duane Jensen families of Mapleton. Russell A. Williams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Williams, left Sunday morning for the mission home in Salt Lake City where he will train prior to fulfilling an LDS mission in Denmark. Mr. and Mrs. George Critch-fiel- d of Oakley, Idaho were callers at the S. Lavel Bird home during the week. Mr. Critchfield and Mr. Bird both work for the same organiza-tion. Club members, wives note Christmas Springville 20-3- 0 Anns gave a Christmas party for their husbands at the home of Karen Snow. A nicely arranged din-ner was served and visiting took up the time. Earlier in the evening, the 20-3- 0 clubmen held a Christ-mas party for their children sponsoring a visit from Santa, who talked to each child and presented him with a gift. UftZJ Farewell set Sunday for Merrill Bryan Called to serve in the Flor-ida LDS mission, Merrill Bryan will be honored at a farewell in the Eleventh ward Sunday evening services at Kolob Stake House, beginning at 7 p.m., an-nounces Bishop Ernest Boyer, Jr. The departing missionary entered the missionary home in Salt Lake City Monday and will leave on his mission next Monday. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Lauren Bryan, 355 Brookside Drive. Speakers at his farewell will be President Ernest A. Strong Jr., and Jess V. Bryan, an uncle from Price, with remarks by the ward bishop and by par-ents of the misisonary and a response by the missionary. There will be music by a ladies trio composed of Mary Taylor, Sharon Ellis and Mar-tha Taylor and a vocal solo by Sue Burnett, accompanied by her mother, Mrs. Leah Bur-nett. The congregation will give Merrill Bryan, who will be honored at a farewell Sun-day evening in the lith ward before going to Florida LDS Mission. Club changes name; visited by Santa Beginning with the New Year, the club formerly known as the Stork club will take the French name Bonne Ami-ti- e. The new name was select-ed at a holiday party at the home of Carol Warren, where LeAnna McClain, president pre-sided. Santa came to the party and distributed gifts and the mem-bers revealed their "secret pals." Refreshments and singing of Christmas carols concluded the party attended by about 21 members and guests, the lat-ter including Geniel Larsen and Jeanine Perry.
