Many Hew Names Appear on Exhibitors' List The time is arriving again ! ; for opening of Springville's lj National April Art Show and :j i plans are completed for the ! opening program to be on j Wednesday April 1, at 2 p.m., for students in the Auditorium j and in the evening at 7:30 for the general public in the Art Gallery. i Tentative plans include a talk by Conan S. Mathews, dean of the Fine Arts department of the BYU, and music by the Musettes. Prizes Offered As an incentive to more outstanding out-standing artists to send their work to the national show, the art committee is this year offering of-fering a $200 cash award to I the artist with, the best oil . and a $100 award for the best , water color. This is in addition to the purchase price. It is believed that this offer has encouraged many new artists ar-tists to send their paintings as this year's list includes quite a number not previously represented. rep-resented. Paintings are arriving daily and the work of arranging them will get underway March 20, the deadline set for entries. 1 Among the new names seen on the list of exhibitors are: Jerry Farnsworth and A. G. Warshansky, the latter having taken first place in the De-Young De-Young Museum in San Francisco. Fran-cisco. The work of Edwin L. Fulwieder, a foremost painter of the American scene and Leon Crow is included among ' the new exhibitors. There are many well-known j former exhibitors also such as ' Frank C. Kirk, Wm. R. Leigh, Harry Leith-Ross, Reynold Wei- ', denaar, Clarence Millet, Anto- i nio Martino, John E. Costigan, : Marie C. Miller, Albert L. ; Bross and others who have t their paintings already at the gallery. Also approximately 23 cards have been received from i Utah artists who plan to enter their work in the 1959 show. |
