Show Senior High Girls to Participate In Homemaker of Tomorrow Contest ceive a $1,500 scholarship and the runner-up in each state will receive $500 toward her college col-lege education. Each school Homemaker of Tomorrow will receive a home-making home-making pin manufactured by Josten's which represents the slogan, "Home is Where The Heart Is." The. school of each state winner will receive a set of the Encyclopedia Britannica. A record number of high school senior girls throughout the United States will mark "Homemaker of Tomorrow Day" Tuesday, Dec. 2. By taking a homemaking knowledge and attitudes test, they wril compete for $106,000 in college scholarships and an educational tour which this year includes the middle west in addition to historical sites in the east. Enrolled in the Betty Crock- er Search for the American Homemaker of Tomorrow this year are 349,150 girls from 12,260 schools. This is the lar-"1 gest number of participants in the five-year history of the scholarship program. Growth has been steady since 1955 when 187,463 girls in 8,040 schools participated. The 1959 All-A merican Homemaker of tomorrow will be announced in Minneapolis April 10 at the American Table Dinner in the Leamington Hotel's Ho-tel's "Hall of States." She will be selected from among 48 state Homemakers of Tomorrow Tomor-row and the representative from the District of Columbia, each chosen in a written 50-minute 50-minute examination which will be administered in the schools Tuesday. Minneapolis replaced New York as this year's finals site to permit the homemaking representatives rep-resentatives from every state to visit the new Betty Crocker kitchens located in the home of General Mills, sponsor of this program. The state winners and their school advisors will travel to Minneapolis ofter six davs of educational siErht-seeine in Washington, D.C., colonial Williamsburg, Va., and New York City. ' The All-American Homemaker Homema-ker of Tomorrow will - receive a $5,000 scholarship. The runner-up will receive a $4,000 grant .third place winner a $3,-000 $3,-000 award and fourth-place winner a $2,000 scholarship.
