Show ChamberfSees Future for Recreation The Springville Chamber of Commerce of which Cal Packard Pack-ard is president, this week commended the fine work done by the U. S. Soil Conservation Con-servation and the Forestry Service in flood protection and watershed maintenance in this area. The department states that the U. S. Soil Conservation along with the Forestry Service Ser-vice have done a good job pro tecting our north mountain watershed and protecting against floods in Rock Canyon, Slate, and Little Rock Canyon Can-yon by the "terracing," by "Gully blocking," and by re-seeding re-seeding the barren slopes which cause rapid runoff with resultant result-ant floods and waste water. The road within one and a half miles of Camel's Back they have built will be connected connec-ted to the Camel's Back road next summer and provide one of the most beautiful scenic roads in the state. The beauty of it, particularly with its fall colors, is something all will want to see and to show all your friends it is stated. The area which one may-drive may-drive thru is in the midst of what is expected to be the most fabulous ski area in the world. Inasmuch as the lower terminal for this area may be just north of Springville everyone every-one is asked to take a look at it in its entirety and become enthusiastic. It is said that this area will eventually bring $5,000,000 into Utah County. The road itself will become improved and finished only as soon as the people want it and need ft and agitate for it, the Chamber points out as they ask all to get behind the project. |
