Bock Give Reasons for Choice. , Rallies for two of the candidates for i mayor at the coming primaries election 1 vere held last nleht. Supporters of C. LaMar Nelson met at Barratt hall, with Oscar W. Carlson as chairman. Those who would elect K. A. Bock held forth in the council chamber at the city and county building, under the chairmanship of Frankiyn Ghristianson. At both meetings meet-ings the policies of tlu; respective candidates candi-dates were discussed and plans lor the campaign considered. Karl J. G:ade was the principal speaker at Ua'-ratt hi-li. He indorsed the attitude atti-tude of Mr. Nelson, as expressed at the-me'-t.ng Wednesday at the t'mnnu.-retaJ ci ii W. especially where it touched upon j the need of an extensive advertising c-impa:gn for the city. Mr. Glade called ! ; attention to the good accomplished for j i cities in the east by letting the wund I know what they had to offer, pointed out j the possibilities and attractions- of Sr.lt j Lake, and Rave figures to show how a i little money expended scient fically would : bring great advantages to the city. ; Mi'. Car! sun cited instances to show ! that this Is an age of young men, called attention to the peculiar problems of re-i re-i construction that now confront, the community com-munity and gave reasons why he thought Mr. Nelson was qualified to solve them. William G. Livingston, an old friend of the Nelson family, also addressed the meeting. At the city and county building Mr. Book, tile candidate, gave the most im-i im-i porta nt address. He declared that h. waa r tinning alone, without t ies to any faction, and if elected will serve all the people. "Candidates." he continued, "can easily make pledges before election, but it takes coura ge to put them into execution. Moreover, the mayor is only one councilman council-man among five, and has no power of veto: therefore it is impossible for him to live up to guarantees." Mr. Bock declared that he was in favor of securing a greater water supply for the city and was convinced, that water meters would not solve the problem of water shortage. "Measuring will not increase the supply sup-ply of water," he continued. "Ye must brin- more water to the city. it will cos; c great deal of money, but the town needs it and the people can have it if thrV OeflTc." r.lso said that he believed the west side of the city should he given more eo::;-iderr.tion. and pointed out numerous improvements that are sorely needed in that section. Chairman Chris tianson dwelt on the ouaiii'ioa'i.'ns of Mir. Bock for the p.isi-t:on, p.isi-t:on, calling attention to the fact that p'r.cc he had served for a number oi years with success as city auditor, he v.-,is likely to prove efficient as the city's executive. Eugene Hammond for the office- of city commissioner, held a meeting meet-ing last night in the office of John F.
